Instrument tag structure

A tag combines functional letters and a loop number. The first letter normally identifies the measured variable while following letters describe the instrument function.

Typical first letters include F for flow, L for level, P for pressure and T for temperature. Project legends must always take priority over assumptions.

I indicates, T transmits, C controls, S switches and A alarms. Tags such as PT, LIC and TSH describe different responsibilities in a control loop.
