Purpose of the I/O list

The I/O list converts process intent into a structured register of every field signal required by the control system.

Identify field devices

Review each tagged instrument, motor, valve, switch and package interface. Decide whether each signal is a digital input, digital output, analog input, analog output or network value.

Define signal details

Record tag, service description, signal type, electrical standard, engineering range, fail state, cabinet, terminal and PLC address.
